Zubiri commends galant soldiers on retaking Marawi City from extremist terrorists

"We commend everyone involved in military-police operations in Marawi, including the civilian intelligence assets. What took the combined Allied and Russian forces three years to take over Mosul in Iraq, it only took our brave and galant Soldiers five months to retake Marawi City from the extremist terrorists.

I have very high respect for our forces who fought well and sacrificed a lot including the lives they lost on duty.

At last, with major terrorists eliminated, rehabilitation, resettlement and development activities can go full blast.

These foreign and Filipino terrorists had caused misery, death and destruction that affected our countrymen and the national economy.

Along with all our countrymen, we will support projects for the reign of peace, stability and development in the areas impacted by the Marawi conflict.

Our heroic forces have accomplished their mission. Defense Sec. Lorenzana announced the death of Isnilon Hapilon (5M dollars & 10 million pesos prize on his head) and Omar Maute (5 million pesos)."
