Laguna says yes to Federalism

2,000 new leaders took their oaths as members of the ruling party PDP Laban before Party President and Senate President Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III on Sunday in Biñan, Laguna.

Led by Laguna's "A Team" - Congresswomen Arlene Arcillas (1st District of Laguna), Marlyn Alonte (City of Biñan), and Sol Aragones (3rd District of Laguna) - and accompanied by Senior Board Member Ruth Hernandez (2nd District of Laguna) and Board Member Benjo Agarao (4th District of Laguna), the new leaders pledged to support President Duterte and PDP Laban as the country undergoes Change and prepares for the shift to Federalism.

"PDP Laban has always been the political party of the grassroots, and our grassroots presence is even more enhanced by the addition of so many new members from Laguna", said Pimentel.

Laguna is the latest province that has seen the beefed-up presence of PDP Laban as the party gears up for the achievement of its long-term goal of establishing a Federal Republic in the Philippines.

Pimentel said, "With this event, with every district of the province represented, we make sure that the message of Federalism and Change is heard in Laguna. We will continue strengthening the party not just in Laguna, but in every province of the country."

House Speaker and Party Secretary General Pantaleon Alvarez said, "This is proof that PDP Laban is taking root and is here to stay. Laguna is just the latest province to join our party. More will follow."

Energy Secretary and PDP Laban Vice-Chair Al Cusi said, "The enthusiasm of the people of Laguna for Change is clear. With their help, we will deliver on the promise of Change for the whole country. I look forward to other provinces joining us soon."

Aside from Pimentel and Cusi, Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino and DOF Assistant Secretary Paola Alvarez were also present, underscoring the importance of the event.
