Explanation of vote on Martial Law extension

I vote to extend the proclamation of Martial Law and suspension of the writ of habeas corpus in the whole of Mindanao to allow the President to complete the task of quelling rebellion and terrorism in the region as well as to prevent the spread of terrorism to the different parts of the country.

I believe voting for the extension of the proclamation is a show of support to our mostly young soldiers; about 100 of them have already died. Martial law is needed to ensure full cooperation of local government units in the pursuit of peace in Mindanao and to the effort of rebuilding and rehabilitation of Marawi.
