Safeguarding and transmitting culture to youth: Senate President Pro-Tempore Loren Legarda, during Monday’s plenary session, April 29, 2024, congratulates and commends the nine recipients of the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) award or the National Living Treasures award for 2023 for their exemplary contributions to the promotion and safeguarding of Philippine cultural heritage. Legarda cited them as the ones “who live and give life in our art. Their stories are full of experience and skill. Their hands and talents forged and perpetuate the culture of their communities. Their lives and art are priceless. They are pillars of our identity, reminders of our heritage, and channels of our creativity and being Filipinos.” She said in her sponsorship speech: “Gawad ng Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) or the National Living Treasures Award is a prime and highly effective effort to safeguard and transmit traditional arts to our youth.” The Senate adopted Senate Resolution No. 959 commending the nine recipients of GAMABA award for 2023.
