UP emerges victorious in moot court competitions: Sen. Sonny Angara sponsors Senate Resolution No. (SRN) 1003 commending and congratulating the University of the Philippines College of Law for its victory in the 28th annual Stetson International Environment “Moot Court” Competition. In his speech Monday, April 29, 2024, Angara said the UP Law Stetson team first bested 27 teams in the regional level, which included Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia. The Philippine team then emerged victorious in the international level, defeating competitors from other regions across the globe. “The Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition is known around the world as one of the most popular law school events. Held at Stetson University's Gulfport, Florida Campus, this moot court is specifically dedicated to debating the most pressing environmental challenges facing the world,” Angara said. The senator also delivered his co-sponsorship speech on SRN 992 congratulating the UP College of Law for its outstanding performance and victory in the 2024 Philip C. Jessup International Moot Court Competition. “It is important, Mr. President, that we highlight today that both winning teams would not have succeeded were it not for their coach, Senior Lecturer Marianne Vitug, and their faculty advisor, Associate Professor Rommel Casis. It was with their guidance and constant support that the respective UP College of Law teams had succeeded so spectacularly in the global scene. That is a hallmark of the kind of educators that the UP College of Law is blessed with,” Angara said. (Bibo Nueva España/Senate PRIB)
