Benigno S. Aquino, Jr.
Senator Benigno Q. Aquino was born on September 3, 1894 in Murcia but grew up in Concepcion, Tarlac to Servillano Aquino and Guadalupe Quiambao.
He was taught the cartilla by a private tutor and studied under Bartolome Tablante in Angeles, Pampanga. In 1904, he entered the Colegio de San Juan de Letran and at the age of 13, he graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts Degree. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1913, and passed the bar examinations the following year.
Senator Aquino served as representative of the second district of Tarlac from 1919 to 1928, then Senator from 1928 to 1934 and assemblyman from 1935 to 1938. In 1938, after his stint in legislature, he became Secretary of Agriculture and Commerce. As Department Secretary, he never collected his salary but donated it to charitable institutions like the Hospicio de San Jose and resigned from the cabinet in 1941.
He died on December 20, 1947 due to cardiac arrest and leaving his wife Maria Urquico.
