Message of Sen Francis Pangilinan for April 9, Araw ng Kagitingan and Maundy Thursday

"Today, April 9, is both Day of Valor and Maundy Thursday. It is both a celebration of those who collectively defended our freedom and fought for our better future, and a reminder that leadership is about service.

Ngayon, sa gitna ng pagdurusa at pagkabalisa, isang bagong lahi ng mga bayani ang lumilitaw, nagpapakita ng lakas ng loob at katatagan sa pakikipaglaban upang malagpasan ang pandemya ng COVID-19.

These are the workers who keep the health and food supply chains moving: The health workers who take care of the sick; the supermarket staff and suppliers who make sure we have access to essential items; the delivery service crew who bring the goods to our doorsteps; the security guards who keep establishments secure; the farmers who work in the fields to make sure we have food in the coming days; the garbage collectors who keep our communities clean; the local government officials and all other front-liners who try to make the best with what they have -- we honor them for fighting for our future, for serving with humility and in a sense, washing our feet.

Saludo rin sa lahat ng mga OFW health workers, lalong-lalo na ang mga nars, sa lahat ng bahagi ng buong mundo, sa kanilang serbisyo para sa kalusugan ng sangkatauhan.

Ngayon at araw-araw pagkatapos ng quarantine, patuloy nating pasasalamatan ang mga bayani at lingkod-pinunong mga ito, at makikipagtulungan sa kanila upang matiyak ang kapakanan at kinabukasan ng lahat."
