On extension of ITR filing

SENATE President Vicente Sotto III today thanked Finance Secretary Dominguez for acting on his request to be lenient in the filing of income tax returns (ITRs) amid the prevailing Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

Sotto said he was on the phone with Dominguez and directly asked him if flexible arrangements can be applied in the filing of ITRs.

On thursday morning, the BIR said it will allow taxpayers to file their ITRs after the April 15 deadline. The new deadline for the submission of ITRs is set on May 15.

"Times like these, establishing good networks is beneficial. Direct communication can help in this time of crisis. I am very happy that the good Secretary has heeded my request," Sotto said.
