Revilla shows viral photo of ex-Mayor Sanchez, daughter during Senate GCTA hearing

Sen. Bong Revilla, Jr. yesterday grilled Bureau of Corrections (BuCOr) Chief Nicanor Faeldon about the thwarted release of former Calauan, Laguna Mayor and convicted rapist Antonio Sanchez.

During his 10-minute interpellation, Revilla showed to Faeldon a photo of Sanchez wearing a face mask with his daughter, Coun. Ave Marie Tonee "Amty" Sanchez-Alcid in a hospital facility. The viral photo has triggered public outrage, sparking rumors that the convicted mayor goes in and out of jail.

Coun. Sanchez explained that the photo was taken in a hospital during her birthday, when her father was confined in a hospital.

Bong Revilla urged for the revision of Republic Act 10592 or Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) Law, citing that the law was originally intended for promoting prisoner rehabilitation and successful reintegration into mainstream society.

"Kawawa naman kasi 'yung mga biktima ng mga nakakulong na ito kung magagamit lamang ang batas sa maling paraan para lamang sila makalaya," Revilla said.
