On media queries re Malacañang comment that inmates convicted of heinous crimes but were released due to GCTA should be brought back to prison:

What we want are truth, accountability, and justice, which should be the linchpin of our criminal justice system.

What are the basis in law for deciding who are qualified for release? How were the cases of the inmates evaluated? Who makes such decisions? Did money change hands to secure the releases? Were there other considerations beyond applying the law without fear or favor? Are these cases of a "most efficient" system of justice money can buy? We must find the answers to these questions.

If this system persists, we can never have a reformative prison system and restorative justice will remain elusive, including to those who are in jail but who are innocent and to wrongdoers who remain scot-free.
