KOKO TO ALBAYALDE: RESOLVE KILLINGS TO AVOID QUESTIONS ON COMPETENCE DURING CA HEARINGS

PASAY CITY - Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III advised PNP Police General Oscar Albayalde to resolve the rampant killings in the country or else face questions on competence during his Commission on Appointments (CA) hearings.

Last July 25, PNP Police General Oscar Albayalde mentioned that he is willing to accept a cabinet position if the country's Chief Executive, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, offers him post.

"Ang advise ko kay General Albayalde - resolve the issues regarding rampant killings all over our country in that way he will not have to face questions on competence during his CA hearings," Pimentel said.

Pimentel expressed his alarm over the rampant killings in the country. He also urged the PNP to go all out against those guns-for-hire and effect the immediate arrest of the perpetrators.

"The PNP should go all out against those guns-for-hire but of course observe due process of law," Pimentel added.

"The consent of the CA is required for the appointment of the heads of the executive departments and other high positions." Pimentel stressed.

The CA is a constitutional body under the 1987 Constitution. It is an independent body separate and distinct from the Legislature, although its membership is confined to members of Congress.
