Why is there no International Men's Day? Why do we celebrate women for only one month?

Maybe because we, especially men, are being reminded that under patriarchy, the dominant thought and culture in society, women have gone a long way in their struggle for equality, recognition of their ability, and acknowledgment of their distinct fight.

Times are different: Rape and misogyny have become regular topics of joke. Crimes have been normalized. Women's dignity has been under attack.

Good thing we have people who stand up for what is right and are against crime. We have Gary Alejano, Bam Aquino, Chel Diokno, Samira Gutoc, Pilo Hilbay, Romy Macalintal, Mar Roxas, and Erin Tañada who celebrate with us the power of those who hold up half of the sky. They are also with us in championing what is right for our mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, and friends.

Special mention is Samira Gutoc, who was recently given the United Nations Development Programme N-Peace Award.
