EXPLANATION OF VOTE/MANIFESTATION
Senate Bill 1537 under Committee Report 145

THE HEALTHY NANAY AND BULILIT ACT
(First 1000 Days)

MR. PRESIDENT and distinguished colleagues,

This representation's vote to pass on third reading Senate Bill 1537 or the Healthy Nanay and Bulilit Act, is my expression of support to every woman, mother, and child.

I believe that this measure will not only strengthen our strategy for maternal, neonatal and child health but more so will shift our the government's priority in crafting its policies in this area.

With its subsequent approval by the President, I believe that we are creating a sustainable strategy to address the health problems of young children, pregnant and lactating women and adolescent females, among others. We shall do this through the integration of government efforts and defining the roles of our local government units as well as the private sector.

The delivery of the services needed by them will be within reach and available in every local unit through capacitating our barangay health workers and nutrition volunteers.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, I congratulate our colleagues for our collective effort to pass this measure and most especially Senator Risa Hontiveros, for making the passage of this measure top of her list.
