Transcript of Interview with Senate Minority Leader Franklin M. Drilon

Q: On the President's trust rating

Drilon: Sa akin self-inflicted ngunit ito'y isang survey lamang. I will not pass judgment until the next one or two surveys because that will show the trend. The government must better take a second look at their policies and the way they enforce their policies dahil kung walang pagbabago sa mga susunod na surveys baka magpatuloy ito. Ngunit sa ngayon sa isang survey pa lang hindi natin masabi dahilan sa we usually look at the trend at sa ngayon hindi natin masabi by looking at one survey lang. But this is also reflective of how people perceive (the administration). Isa pa kung titingnan natin yung pagbagsak sa investment - halos 90% ang bagsak - ito po ay reflection din ng confidence level ng investors sa ating bansa. Ito po ay dapat ding tingnan. The plunge in the domestic trust rating is also reflected in the trust and confidence of the foreign investors as shown by the 90-percent drop in the foreign direct investment from $U1.4 billion in January to June 2016 to only $US 141 million in the similar period in 2017. The lack of confidence is not only in the domestic but also in the foreign scene. Ngunit uulitin ko lang, ito'y dapat tingnan nang husto ng pamahalaan, because while it is just one survey and is not reflective of the trend, they should re-examine their policies and the execution of these policies before these continued declines become a trend.

Q: Wake up call po ba ito?

Drilon: Certainly this is a wake up call.

Q: Nakaapekto po ba yung mga issues sa EJK at yung bank accounts?

Drilon: I don't know. I am no expert. I don't know what....but certainly ay maraming issues na self-inflicted.

Q: At maraming dapat baguhin?

Drilon: Dapat tingnan nila kung ano ang mga dapat baguhin. Sigurado ako na they will reexamine and review their policies.
