Transcript of Ambush Interview with Senate President Franklin M. Drilon

Q: On the Commission on Appointment's confirmation of Comelec Commissioner Sheriff Abas and COA Commissioner Isabel Dasalla-Agito

SPFMD: At least we confirmed the two constitutional bodies. On the next session, we will work on the confirmation of the Armed Forces and the career ministers and counsellors of the Department of Foreign Affairs, before we adjourn. We hope to finish our job before the sine die adjournment.

Q: On the pending appointment of CSC Commissioner Nieves Osorio

SPFMD: The House requested for deferment.

Q: Ano po yung concern nila?

SPFMD: Hindi ko alam. They asked for it. We will schedule them for the next session.

Q: Yung proposal po na separate yung proclamation for president and vice-president?

SPFMD: That is a matter for the canvassing committee to decide.

Q: Is it impossible?

SPFMD: That is a matter for the canvassing committee to decide.

Q: Sa existing rules po ba?

SPFMD: There was a proposed amendment on the floor yesterday. The position taken by Majority Floor Leader Boyet Gonzales is that the matter of the separate proclamation is the inherent function of the canvassing committee, and therefore we left it at that. There was no amendment.

Q: Has been it done before?

SPFMD: It has never been done before.

Q: Is it too early to talk about it since hindi pa naman nabubuksan yung mga COCs?

SPFMD: That's why that it is a matter we decided should be decided upon by the canvassing committee.

Q: Sa tingin niyo po ba magiging mabilis ang canvassing?

SPFMD: That is difficult to say. We just have to go through it and at least, we can start today. The immediate approval of the rules is a good sign that we can finish this earlier than we have scheduled. We'll try to finish it as soon as possible.
