POE CAUTIONS VOTERS ON 'CHANGE' PROMISE

What kind of change do you want?

Addressing voters with this question, independent presidential candidate Sen. Grace Poe urged Filipinos to discern carefully the brand of "change" they want for the country.

Kailangan natin ng makataong pagbabago," Poe said when asked to comment on the latest Pulse Asia survey.

While an independent candidate like her does not have the machinery of the administration and other major political parties, Poe said she remains hopeful that she is getting the message of "Gobyernong may Puso" across.

Poe said that while she continues to respect and trust survey results, they are never a guarantee. She cited the case of her late father, Fernando Poe Jr., who won overwhelmingly in the National Capital Region in 2004, contrary to surveys.

FPJ ran for president in 2004 but lost in what is widely believed to have been fraudulent elections.

Poe herself barely made it to the Magic 12 of the surveys in 2013 but ended up garnering more than 20 million votes to top the senatorial race. It was the highest number of votes cast for a candidate in Philippine election history.

Poe also takes pride in the fact that she ran a positive campaign, as she had promised the Filipino people and Manila Archbishop Luis Cardinal Tagle last year, before the campaign period began.
