BONGBONG MARCOS GETS THIRD LABOR GROUP ENDORSEMENT

Coming off the heels of endorsements from two labor groups, Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. has once again bagged another endorsement on the same day of the Labor Day celebrations.

In a late afternoon rally at a busy portion of Rosario, Pasig City, Marcos was endorsed by the Lakas Manggagawa Labor Center group before a roaring crowd of supporters.

Terry Tuazon, Secretary-General of Lakas Manggagawa Labor Center, earlier said that one reason they have chosen to endorse Marcos is because he is against contractualization, outsourcing and the so-called 555 labor scheme.

"During the regime of President Marcos, he gave benefits during Labor Day. It stopped during the leadership of President Corazon Aquino until today, kaya sa palagay namin ang plataporma ni Bongbong ay nakatuon sa pagkalinga, pag-asikaso at pagbibigay benipisyo sa ating working class," Tuazon said.

Marcos reiterated his earlier stance that should he win as Vice President, he would aim for the cabinet post of Labor Secretary in order to maximize his plans to enhance and promote the country's labor force.

"Kung ako'y palarin man maging susunod na Bise Presidente, hihingiin ko sa Pangulo ang DOLE para matulungan ang labor sector," Marcos said.

"Tungkulin ng pamahalaan na siguruhin ang inyong kapakanan at nakahanda ako bilang lingkod-bayan, sa abot ng aking kakayahan, na isulong ang kagalingan ng manggagawang Pilipino," he added.

Marcos had earlier received the endorsement of two large labor groups, namely the Philippine Trade Group Workers Organization (PTGWO) and the Federation of Free Workers (FFW) as they cited his pro-labor advocacy.

PTGWO has over a hundred affiliate labor unions and reputedly the largest labor federation under the umbrella of the TUCP (Trade Union Congress of the Philippines) while FFW has over 200 thousand members all over the country.
