BONGBONG MARCOS CALLS ON OFWs TO BE VIGILANT, REPORT DISCREPANCIES IN VOTER'S RECEIPTS

Vice Presidential candidate Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos today called on Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) taking part in the ongoing Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) to be vigilant and report discrepancies in the voter's receipts.

Marcos made the request following several reports that votes being cast in his favor are being credited to fellow Senator Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan.

"We are calling on all our OFWs to be vigilant while casting their vote and report any irregularity in the conduct of the OAV including inconsistencies in the entries in the voter's receipts," Marcos said.

The Senator also said they have yet to get a definite response from the Comelec on the letter they sent to the poll body regarding the matter.

"If it's just one incident, we could say it is merely an isolated case but we are seeing the same incidents in areas so far apart. There is clearly a pattern here," Marcos asserted.

The Senator had earlier bared that reports coming from Hong Kong, Dubai, Kuwait and Japan show that votes being cast in his favor are not reflected in the voter's receipts but to Honasan.

He then repeated his call to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and service provider Smartmatic to immediately investigate the incidents and not dismiss them outright.

Marcos added that his team is closely monitoring these incidents and are putting in place a system to specifically address the issue.

"Our team is looking into this and we are discussing ways to address this."

"What we can do at this point is just ask our OFWs to guard closely their right to vote and hopefully despite their busy schedules abroad, they find time to report whatever discrepancy they would see in the conduct of the OAV," Marcos concluded.
