LAKAS-CMD THROWS SUPPORT BEHIND BONGBONG MARCOS

Support for Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. continues to swell as the Lakas ng Tao-Christian Muslin Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party has formally adopted him as its official candidate for vice president.

The adoption of Marcos as Lakas-CMD's official VP bet went through the process during its official plenary session at the Manila Golf Club in Makati City Thursday afternoon.

When the session was called to order, former Surigao del Sur Rep. Prospero Pichay moved to nominate Marcos as the adopted vice presidential candidate of Lakas-CMD.

The motion was seconded by Cavite Congresswoman Lani Mercado and seconded further by lawyer Raul Lambino, the party's acting secretary general.

The motion was approved without any objection and abstention by any of the delegates.

"Unanimous ang ating choice sa vice president dahil walang tumutol isa man sa atin lahat dito," Lambino said. He said Lakas-CMD will deliver to Marcos at least 3 million votes.

Marcos humbly accepted the adoption and said he was honored by the support of the party.

"Malaking karangalan na ma-adopt ng inyong partido Lakas-CMD. I am deeply humbled by this show of support by one of the most vibrant parties," he said.

He announced that his campaign for national unity is paying off since it is not only being heard but also slowly being adopted by the Filipino people.

"Ang ating hangarin na pagkakaisa ay isinasabuhay na at itong pag-adopt ninyo sa akin ay isang malaking hakbang tungo sa pagkakaisa," he said.

Party president Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez, for his part, called on his party mates to unite behind the candidacy of Marcos and work hard for their respective victory in the elections.

Other prominent party members who attended the assembly were Cavite Vice Governor Jolo Revilla, former Quezon province congressman Danilo Suarez, and former Maguindanao congressman Didagen Dilangalen.
