BONGBONG TO GRACE: "I WISH HER ALL THE BEST"

Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. today welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court clearing the way for Senator Grace Poe to run for the presidency.

In a statement, Marcos said the High Court's decision is good for the electoral process because it will give more choices to the electorate.

"It is a welcome development. It is healthy for the electoral process as the Filipino voters will have more choices in the elections," he said.

With the disqualification cases out of the way, Marcos said the lady senator can now focus on her own campaign. "Senator Poe could now focus on the campaign. I wish her all the best," he stated.

Voting 9-6, the Supreme Court voted to grant Poe's petition questioning the resolutions issued by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) canceling her certificate of candidacy for President over supposed material misrepresentations with respect to her citizenship and residency.

Those who voted to uphold Poe's candidacy were Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno and Associate Justices Presbitero Velasco Jr., Diosdado Peralta, Lucas Bersamin, Jose Perez, Jose Mendoza, Marivic Leonen, Francis Jardeleza and Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa.

Those who voted against Poe were Associate Justices Antonio Carpio, Teresita Leonardo De Castro, Arturo Brion, Mariano Del Castillo, Estela Perlas-Bernabe and Bienvenido Reyes.
