Sen. Marcos is runaway choice for VP in Isabela and Cagayan

Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos, Jr. is the runaway choice in the race for vice-president in the provinces of Isabela and Cagayan.

Non-commissioned surveys conducted from Feb. 15 to 20, 2016 in Isabela and Feb. 15 - 18, 2016 in Cagayan showed Marcos leading his rivals for vice president with a large margin, confirming his dominance in the "Solid North" areas.

In Isabela province, Marcos emerged as the top choice of his fellow Ilocanos with 42.3.1%, while Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero came in a far second at 21.0%.

Bicol Rep. Leni Robredo is in third position with 14.3% while Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano posted 12.2%. Senators Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan and Antonio "Sonny" Trillanes IV are trailing with 5% and 4%, respectively.

Another survey showed a similar result in Cagayan province: Marcos took the top spot with 43.2% with a 18.7% margin over Escudero who registered 24.5%. Robredo is in third with 12.0% while Cayetano is in fourth with 8.3%. Honasan and Trillanes trailed the pack with 5.0% and 4.2%, respectively.

The pre-poll surveys conducted by the Issues and Advocacy Center (IAC) used a sampling size of 800 respondents in Cagayan and 1,200 respondents in Isabela culled from registered voters who are eligible to vote in the May 9 automated polls. The survey has an applied margin of error of 2.5% more or less with 98 percent confidence index.

In a similar survey conducted by IAC on 1,500 residents in Pangasinan on January 10 to 18, 2016, Marcos also emerged as the top choice of voters for vice president.

Marcos earlier said the positive survey results inspire him to work harder to deliver his message of national unity across the country.
