MARCOS EXPECTS STEPPED UP EFFORTS VS FAMILY
ON 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF EDSA

Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" R. Marcos Jr. today said he expects a stepped up effort against his family to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Power Power Revolution this February with his running for the vice presidential race in the May 2016 elections.

"Every year there is a celebration but we expect this year to be more intensive mainly because I am running for the vice presidency. We are in the election period," Marcos said.

In fact, he said, the government and some groups have lined up a series of activities leading up to the Edsa celebration on February 25. "Mas matindi ngayon sigurado ang mga banat sa aking ama, sa akin, sa aking pamilya. Pero wala naman kaming magagawa doon, ganun talaga," he said.

Marcos, in the latest survey of the Social Weather Station (SWS), is now statistically tied for the top spot at 25 percent.

But Marcos pointed out that he and his family have learned to live with the yearly celebrations and the constant bashing. "That's life, we all learn to live with whatever is given us," he said.

He pointed out, however, that he still gets affected by the relentless attacks despite the passage of three decades. "We are human, of course we get affected but as I've said we have learned to live with it. It's part of our lives," he stated.

On the actual day of the Edsa celebration on February 25, Marcos said he will be in the campaign trail meeting with people and presenting his platform on how to alleviate their condition.

"I won't be in Edsa, I will be in NLEX. But seriously, it's been 30 years and there are more pressing issues. Whenever I go around and meet with our people, they don't ask me about Edsa or People Power, they ask me about their problems like poverty, jobs, peace and security. These are the things more important. That's has been my focus, how to give a progressive future. ," he said.
