Senator JV Ejercito and staff attend Singapore Cooperation Programme for Sustainable Urban Transport Planning and Management

To further study and draw lessons from countries with advanced practices and experiences on urban planning and mass transport system, Senator Joseph Victor G. Ejercito and his staff have attended the Singapore Cooperation Programme for Sustainable Urban Transport Planning and Management on April 13 to 17.

Delegations from Colombia, Nicaragua, Maldives, Cyprus and other countries also attended the programme.

The participants were welcomed by Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Land Transport Authority (LTA), LTA Academy and Urban Development Authority (URA).

The five-day course programme included video presentation on the Land Transport Master Plan which is an Overview of Land Transport System in Singapore LTA. The delegates were also presented with Transport Modelling and Feasibility Studies which included an Introduction to Transport Planning in Singapore, Transport Model and Demand Forecasting, Financial Evaluation and Economic Evaluation of the country. The LTA Academy also discussed with them about the Vehicle Safety Standards and Control System in Singapore.

The Philippine delegation also held courtesy call with Singapore Minister for Transport Lui Tuck Yew and officials of Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT).

Senator JV Ejercito is the chairman of the Committee on Public Services, sub-committee on Transportation and an advocate of mass transportation in the country. Last month, he also attended together with national and local government officials a briefing on mass transport and subway system sponsored by Yokohama Transportation Bureau in Japan.
