Nancy reschedules CCT probe

Senator Nancy Binay has decided to move the schedule of the Senate inquiry into the controversies surrounding the conditional cash transfer (CCT) program of the government.

The lady senator made the decision to allow the public to reflect on the words of Pope Francis who left the Philippines on Monday after a four-day visit.

"We express our heartfelt gratitude to Pope Francis who has taken time to be with the Filipino people. During his visit, he taught us about the importance of mercy and compassion. It is in this light that I suggested that we instead use this time to reflect on the words of our Holy Father," Binay said.

The lady senator said that the Senate Committee on Social Justice, Welfare and Rural Development will first discuss proposed bills which seek to establish a task force to handle cases of neglect and abandonment of children.

"Pope Francis wants us to tackle measures that promote peace, inclusiveness and the welfare of the children and the poor.

The lady senator assured the public that the investigation on anomalies surrounding the CCT, earlier scheduled for January 22 at 10 a.m., will push through at a later date.
