BALIGOD LIST TAMPERED

Lawyer Levito Baligod, who claims that he was the author of the list allegedly drawn up by principal whistleblower Benhur Luy, said yesterday (16 May) that the Baligod list did not include the name of Sen. Miriam Defensor Santiago.

Baligod repeatedly issued the denial during the ABS-CBN news program Balita interview conducted by Karen Davila yesterday, in "Question and Answer" form.

According to ABS-CBN news on the internet, Baligod was quoted as saying: "Lacson, who linked Santiago to the pork barrel scam, may have committed an error."

Baligod said that his list does not match the Lacson list, and added: "Wala naman si Senator Santiago doon."

Also yesterday, Santiago had issued a statement that she was thinking of filing disbarment proceedings in the Supreme Court against Baligod, for including her in the list.

It turned out that Santiago was not in the list, also known as the signed affidavit, of the alleged plunder mastermind Janet Napoles.

It now appears that Santiago is not included in the Napoles list, the Lacson list, or the Baligod list; in other words, she is not included in any list.

During his Balita interview, Baligod admitted that he did make up a list, but on repeated questioning by Davila, he kept insisting that his list in its original form did not include Santiago and others.

"Some people are trying to sow confusion in the investigation and prosecution of those involved in the pork barrel scam," Baligod said in his interview.

Baligod said that those who were maliciously included in the list were Santiago, Drilon, and Escudero.

Reached for comment, Santiago said that at the proper time, she will bare the persons who "poisoned" the Baligod list, and insinuated that they are crooks who have been her long-time enemies.

Santiago said that her vindication should serve to inspire young people to enter government because, no matter how malicious crooks are, the truth will eventually prevail.
