Excerpts of the Interview of Senator Bam Aquino on the Slow,
Expensive Internet on Headstart

1. On the Senate investigation on slow Internet.

A: When we have our investigation about two to three weeks from now, iyon ang gusto nating malaman. Why are we slow and what can we do about it? People are complaining a lot left and right and we want to know how we can be better and how we can progress.

2. How about a Department on Internet?

A: I would consider that we have a group dedicated to focus on access, price and quality. Right now, there's DOST, NTC.

We have DTI also taking care of some of these issues because of consumer protection issues. Sabug-sabog siya.

I would actually support that we put this all together and have a department that corresponds to the information age that we're in now.

3. On Stakeholders' role to improve Internet service?

A: It's about getting all the groups together. In the Philippines, all of our major problems only get solved when everyone comes together to solve it.

We need to really work together to make sure consumers get what they're paying for and get to a place where their Internet is really functioning at a satisfactory level or the best level possible.
