Joel Torre lauded for winning best actor in Korean Film Festival

Veteran actor Joel Torre was commended by the Senate for winning the Best Actor Award in the 17th Puncheon International Fantastic Film Festival held in South Korea last July 18, 2013.

Senate Resolution No. 181, authored by Sen. Lito Lapid, acknowledged Torre's achievement which brought pride and honor to the Philippines.

"Filipino actor Joel Torre gave the country pride when he won the Best Actor Award in the 17th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) held in Bucheon gymnasium, Jung-dong, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea on July 18, 2013 for the movie 'On the Job'," according to the resolution. Apart from Torre bagging the Best Actor award, the movie, "On the Job," which he starred in, was also awarded as the Jury's choice in the same festival.

The PiFan is an international film festival held every July in Bucheon, South Korea, focusing on horror, thriller, mystery, and fantasy films, giving particular attention to films from East Asia and Southeast Asia. (OLIVE CAUNAN)
