Drilon to speak at KBP conference Thursday

Senate President Franklin M. Drilon is set to address the leaders and most prominent personalities in the field of broadcast media as the conference speaker for the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) 40th Annual Top Level Management Conference, to be held on November 14/Thursday, 10:00 am, at the WIDUS Resort and Casino, Clark Free Port Zone, Pampanga.

The annual conference serves as a forum where the broadcast industry and other relevant stakeholders could discuss major concerns and the biggest issues affecting Philippine broadcasting today.

The Senate chief will be sharing his thoughts before an audience which includes the nation's most influential and seasoned broadcast journalists such as KBP president Herman Basbaño, KBP chairman Ruperto Nicdao, Jr., and the members comprising the associations' Board of Directors.

Drilon's speech will focus mostly on the unique relationship between the government and media, and how the two sectors can work together in mitigating abuses and malfeasance detrimental to public service.

The Senate President is also expected to brief the audience and comment on the most pressing issues confronting the country right now, such as the typhoon Yolanda and the pork barrel controversy and what steps can be taken by both the government and the media industry in response to such challenges.

The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas was founded in 1973 to "elevate professional and ethical standards in Philippine broadcasting, promote social responsibility in broadcasting;" since then the association has made numerous efforts for the advancement of the broadcast industry and the protection of the rights and interests of broadcasters.
