Revilla appeals for bayanihan

Wala namang duda na malalampasan din natin ito sa pagtutulungan," said Senator Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. as he appealed to the nation to join hands to help typhoon-ravaged areas get back on their feet.

Revilla, who is Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Services, today also appealed to the country's Telecommunications companies to exert double effort in restoring communication facilities in 'Yolanda' hit areas. He likewise appealed to their community spirit to establish emergency call centers in those areas where victims can use their equipment to get in touch with relatives for free.

"We are all aware of the aftermath of Yolanda. The destruction it caused is great. What makes things worse is the absence of communication between relatives," Revilla said.

Revilla also asked the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) to immediately assess the damage caused by the typhoon to airports in the South. He said that an immediate assessment is necessary so that commuter safety in facilities is assured when they reopen. "It has been said that Yolanda is the world's strongest cyclone for the year. It's diameter was so big and spread far out. We have to examine every nook and cranny of our facilities to ensure they are safe. We need to see if repairs are needed so we can undertake them soonest," the Senator said.
