Jinggoy honored with UP Alumni Association Award in Good Governance

Acting Senate President Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada is this year's recipient of the Distinguished Award in Good Governance from the University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA).

"Isang malaking karangalan para sa akin ang tanggapin ang parangal mula sa pamantasan kung saan ako nagtapos. Itinuturing ko itong isa sa pinaka-mahalagang pagkilala sa maraming taon ng aking pagiging lingkod-bayan," said Estrada.

Sen. Estrada obtained his degree in Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of the Philippines in 1984.

The UPAA, founded in 1913, is also celebrating their 100th anniversary.

Sen. Estrada says that he considers this as a major highlight and milestone in his 25-year career as a public servant, starting from being the Vice-Mayor and then Mayor of San Juan City and later on elected as Senator on 2004.

Sen. Estrada is currently serving his second six-year term in the Upper Chamber.

"This award inspires me to continue my service to our people based on uncompromising commitment and unqualified dedication to the spirit of democracy, honesty and good governance," Sen. Estrada said.

Sen. Estrada also shares the award with the people who reposed their trust and voted him into office as a senator and as a local government official.

Lastly, Sen. Estrada likewise shared the award with his parents, former President and Manila City Mayor-elect Joseph Estrada and former Senator Dra. Loi Ejercito. "They must also take credit for the honor for they have helped and guided me in my career," Jinggoy said.
