SEN GUINGONA BATS FOR GOVT INVESTMENT
 IN HUMAN DEVELOPMENT

GIVES P6-MILLION PDAF TO FUND 2 PULILAN REGIONAL HEALTH UNITS

Senator Teofisto "TG" Guingona III on Friday highlighted the importance of government's investment in human development as he poured a total of P6 million out of his priority development assistance fund (PDAF) to two regional health units in Pulilan, Bulacan.

The two RHUs will service a total of 12 barangays and will benefit around 15,000 residents in the area.

"As part of our United Nations Millennium Development Goals (UN MDGs) commitment to minimize maternal and child mortality rates, it is apt that we provide basic health services to the poor and marginalized, especially those residing in the countryside," Sen. Guingona said.

The Good Governance advocate likewise emphasized that good health is one of the primary assets of development in the society.

"Our country will never move forward if the basic necessities of our citizens are not met. It is my duty and responsibility as an elected national official to see to it that our kababayans are given primary health care and other basic services that government should provide for them," Sen. Guingona said.

The RHUs are now constructed in Barangays Tibag and Pe?abatan in Pulilan, Bulacan. The other barangays that will benefit from the two RHUs are barangays Sta. Peregrina, Balatong A, Balatong B, Inaon, Tinejero, Dulong Malabon, Tabon, Dampol 2nd A, Dampol 2nd B and Dampol 1st.

"The government should focus on reforms to eradicate graft and corruption. The government's money should be funnelled into various programs and projects that will benefit the Filipinos. If we conscientiously manage and spend the people's money to basic and priority services, it will pave the way for healthier and more developed citizens," he added.

Sen. Guingona stressed that safe and efficient healthcare should not be a privilege of a few but a right of every Filipino.

The senator added that funding of RHUs is part of his campaign promise to promote good governance through transparent and accountable leadership.

"Instead of wasting public funds on inefficient and meaningless activities, we will refocus these to ensure direct, immediate and substantial support for the poor and vulnerable," he added.

Senator Guingona's medical and infrastructure assistance projects in various LGUs are part of his legislative agenda to uplift the lives of the Filipinos through good govenance.
