AURORA EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY WITH SENDONG'S VICTIMS

Senator Edgardo J. Angara urged today people from disaster-prone provinces, such as his home province of Aurora, to show solidarity with the victims of Sendong's flash floods by giving massive assistance and humanitarian support.

"We who have suffered much from natural calamities should be the first to give the most dedicated and heart-felt support to the victims of Sendong's flash floods," said Angara.

From an 18th century tsunami that wiped out the entire township of Baler, Aurora to recent flash floods that killed scores of people, the province has been at the receiving end of calamities. Its town Casiguran is also used as one of only two reference points for typhoon movement within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

In this regard, Angara, through his office, is gathering donations to go toward the relief and rehabilitation efforts in the areas devastated by Sendong's flash floods.

"We know their pain. We have felt the full brunt of death and destruction from natural calamities," lamented Angara. "But I have no doubt they can rebuild and rise up again. Meanwhile, all of us should do our part to ensure they do."
