OF ABU SAYYAF-MILF HOSTAGE

"This incident shows us why there can be no negotiations with terrorists. Their agenda has nothing to do with reason or pity or humanity. Their reason for being is precisely as their name states, to sow terror.

"Their act is even a violation of Islamic law. There is no refuge for them.

"As for the victim, my heart goes out to him and his family. The goal now is to give meaning to his death by ensuring it doesn't happen again."
