On the ambush attempt on DPWH USec. Mon Aquino

Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri today slammed the ambush attempt on the life of Public Works Undersecretary for Region III and National Capital Region (NCR) Ramon Aquino.

Zubiri appealed to the witnesses of the failed ambush to come out and assist the Philippine National Police (PNP) in catching the perpetrators of the crime.

He asked the police to thoroughly proceed with the investigation to ensure that justice be served on Aquino and to the security guard injured in the shootout.

Aquino and the still unidentified security personnel of DPWH were brought to the Manila Doctors Hospital in Manila earlier this afternoon for immediate treatment.

Aquino was one of the public works officials who appeared before the Senate during the hearing conducted by the Committee on Economic Affairs joint with the Committees on Public Works and on Finance on the Filipino firms and an individual blacklisted by the World Bank.
