Gordon orders Feshan execs to submit records
of fertilizer deals with the gov't

The Senate blue ribbon committee today ordered Feshan Philippines Inc. to submit documents of all fertilizer transactions with the government from 2003 to 2004 in connection with its probe into the P728-million fertilizer fund scam.

Independent Senator Richard J. Gordon, committee chair, issued the order after Feshan, the alleged supplier of majority of the fertilizer distributed for the alleged anomalous project, admitted that the Department of Agriculture was the company's biggest client for fertilizer.

Reden Antolin, vice president and chief operating officer of Feshan Philippines, admitted that the government, particularly the DA, was the biggest client of the fertilizer section of the company.

"You are hereby ordered to submit to the blue ribbon committee all sales records, as well as other transaction records," Gordon told Antolin.

"We will issue a subpoena duces tecum to Feshan Philippines to submit all documents of all transactions involving fertilizers," he added.

Gordon also ordered Antolin to submit the names of all officers and employees of the company who were involved in the fertilizer deals within the same period.

Reports said Feshan Philippines was the biggest distributor of fertilizer for the DA's Farm Inputs, Farm Implements program.

According to Antolin, the company expanded its operations to start a fertilizer division and importing fertilizers in 2000 but it closed down the said division in 2005 when their permit expired.
