"BLOODSHED" AT THE SENATE

Hundreds of government troops, law enforcers, firemen and other public personnel trooped to the Senate today to join in the blood donation program organized by Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr.

Those who donated their blood were members of the Philippine Army (PA), Philippine Navy (PN), Philippine Marines, Philippine Air Force (PAF), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF), National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

With the theme "Dugong Alay Pandugtong ng Buhay, the activity which was held at the Senate Basket Ball is part of the activities in celebration of the senator's forty-second birthday tomorrow (Thursday, September 25). This is in cooperation with the AFP Medical Center , The Medical City, Philippine Orthopedic Center, Rizal Medical Center , Philippine Children's Hospital, Pasig City General Hospital , Medical City Hospital and various non-government organizations.

According to Revilla, he initiates a blood donation project every year as a way of helping helping the needy. "There is always a lack of blood, especially during emergency cases, calamities and disasters. Donating blood indeed saves lives," he said.

Aside from the government security forces, among those who volunteered to have their blood donated were employees of the Senate, Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and Philippine Health Insurance System (PhilHealth). Members of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity (APO) and non-government organization People's Synergistically Involved also participated.

The humanitarian event is sponsored by Goldilocks, Mang Inasal, Dickies, MET (Metathione), Crystal Clear Purified Water , Lipa Bujo Juice and Zest-O.

It could be recalled that a successful blood letting was also initiated last year by Revilla.
