KIKO CALLS SABIO 'Kapalmuks and kapit-tuko' for refusing to quit even if disbarred
"Sabio is living proof that PCGG has become irrelevant and must be abolished!"

Senate Majority Leader and Independent senator Kiko Pangilinan today expressed outrage over Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) Chairman Camilo Sabio's refusal to quit in the face of disbarment by the Supreme Court (SC).

"'Kapalmuks' and kapi tuko' are the terms that best describe the position he has taken on the issue. This is shameless and he is an embarrassment to public service," insisted the irate Senator.

Chairman Sabio was accused of influencing his brother, Court of Appeals Justice Jose Sabio, regarding the Meralco-GSIS case. The said issue has resulted in the dismissal, suspension, reprimand and admonishment of several justices including Justice Sabio.

Meanwhile, the PCGG chair remained deaf to appeals for his resignation. He told reporters that, even if the SC disbarred him, it would not automatically disqualify him for the said position.

This, Kiko strongly felt, was a reflection of Chairman Sabio's lack of integrity. He explained: "Coming from the chairman of the good government commission, it is living proof that the commission has become irrelevant; has outlived its purpose and must be abolished. We will take this matter up in budget debates. With a chairman like Sabio, the PCGG has become irrelevant. Worse, he has become an example of illegal acts and unacceptable conduct."

"Nakakahiya at kasuklam-suklam ang kawalan niya ng delicadeza na pinagpipilitan pa nya ang kanyang sarili sa posisyon kahit na dumating na sa disbarment ang kanyang kaso. Kapalmuks ang tawag dito. Dapat na siyang tanggalin sa puwesto dahil malaking kahihiyan ang dulot nya sa gobyerno."
