ROXAS: GAITE'S DONOR CAN CLAIM MONEY FROM THE SENATE

Senator Mar Roxas called on the "private source' who gave the P500,000 to Deputy Executive Secretary Manuel Gaite to come out and claim his or her money from the Senate.

This private "donor" must offer proof of ownership and be prepared to explain to the Senate the circumstances behind his or her donation, he said.

"If the donor was only acting out of the goodness of his heart, then he or she has nothing to fear," the co-chair of the Senate panel on the ZTE deal said.

"The plot thickens," Roxas noted, adding that an intricate web of deceit has its own way of collapsing as more people get caught in its threads.

The president of the Liberal Party expressed the sentiments of its party members that the truth regarding the ZTE broadband deal and alleged abduction of Senate witness Engr. Rodolfo "Jun" Lozada must come out no matter who gets hurt.

The senator said the Senate will continue with its hearings despite the launching of separate probes by the Department of Justice and Office of the Ombudsman. "As an independent institution, the Senate must represent the people's interests in the quest for truth," Roxas stressed.
