LOZADA TOLD TO STAY FIRM IN THE FACE OF HARASSMENT

Minority Leader Aquilino "Nene" Q. Pimentel, Jr. (PDP-Laban) today called on Senate probe witness Rodolfo Lozada, Jr. to remain steadfast in unraveling the truth behind the ZTE-National Broadband Network transaction in the face of intense administration efforts to intimidate him and to destroy his credibility.

"Lozada should brace himself for more acts of harassment that the morally bankrupt and illegitimate Arroyo administration will throw his way," Pimentel said.

"His greatest source of comfort is that the people, including priests, bishops, nuns and otherwise non-political groups, are one in extolling him to high heavens as a singular individual who risks everything to stand for the truth."

Pimentel said no amount of harassment and smear campaigns unleashed by Malacañang will succeed in covering up the ghastly tale of greed and fraud behind the scandal-ridden $329 million ZTE contract.

"The misuse of government funds to malign Lozada through media ads, the botched attempt to kidnap and silence him, the crude coverup by paid hacks all point to moral bankruptcy, and damned end of the GMA misrule," he said.

Pimentel said he salutes Lozada for his ideals and for his decision to stick to the truth no matter what the consequences may be.

"It is seldom that we have such a man. Let the people with a conscience rally behind him in words and in deeds."
