KIKO ON THE CELEBRATION OF PRESS FREEDOM

"We should meet the Press Freedom Day with measures and policies that will up the conviction rate of journalist killings in our courts, stop the abuse of the libel law which intimidates media practitioners from exposing anomalies and unethical practices and promote a culture of responsible journalism. For all the press problems that beset our nation, we are still fortunate to have our freedom of the press enshrined in our Constitution. The challenge for all of us is to be ever vigilant in protecting this freedom as this is our potent tool to accountability and transparency in government, formation of public opinion and democracy rule."
