STOP HALLUCINATING, JAMBY TELLS GLORIA
(ALSTONS GENEVA REPORT CALLS GMA POLICY ON KILLINGS SCHIZOPHRENIC)

Guilty in the Hague , Shamed in Geneva was how Senator Jamby Madrigal described the administration of Mrs. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo after hearing the report of Professor Philip Alston, Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Killings before the 4th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva , Switzerland . Professor Alston in his report yesterday before the Council condemned strongly the schizophrenic policy of the Gloria Macapagal Arroyo administration on the rampant extrajudicial killings in the Philippines .

It is unfortunate that Mrs. Arroyo and her government are belittling the United Nations procedures. It is insulting to all victims of extrajudicial killings and their families to call the Philippines the best democracy in Asia . If justice cannot be attained from a pseudo-democracy in denial then at least justice is done in the UN where people are not blind and are not afraid to speak out, Senator Madrigal says.

She adds, If Mrs. Arroyo is really serious in her efforts of resolving the worsening state of human rights in the Philippines , it is now time to revamp the Armed Forces of the Philippines leadership and remove Secretaries Eduardo Ermita, Norberto Gonzales and Raul Gonzales from her cabinet.

If Mrs. Arroyo insists on her schizoprehenia, the Philippines has no business being in the UN Human Rights Council, the Senator stressed.
