VILLAR TO STUDENTS: BE WISE IN CHOOSING COURSES
Go for courses that can provide jobs right away after graduation

Senate President Manny Villar, President of the Nacionalista Party, has a sound advice to the youth particularly students during his campus tour nationwide: choose courses wisely and opt for those courses that can provide good jobs immediately after graduation.

Nearly three million Filipinos, based on government data, are unemployed. I dont want students, especially fresh graduates to join the ranks of unemployed in the country. Thus, I urge them to be wise about choosing the courses that they will take. Make sure that they will get employed easily once they finish the course, says Villar.

Villar adds, Although there is always the option, which for me is the best option, to venture into a business or be an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is the key to beating unemployment. We need to create a new breed of Filipino entrepreneurs.

On the other side of the fence, Villar also urges the government to province incentives to companies or investors that will establish businesses here that can create more jobs.

According to Villar, Its a two-way thingIm encouraging students to choose employable courses. At the same time, Im also urging the government to give perks to labor-intensive businesses that can employ as many Filipinos as possible. Of course, the third factor is entrepreneurship. With these, I bet we can beat unemployment. Dapat ay i-focus na lang ang edukasyon natin doon sa mga kurso na madaling makahanap ng trabaho at gusto kong i-redirect natin yung ating education doon sa pangangailangan ng kinabukasan. Pondohan natin ang mga bagong kurso naman dahil patungo ang ating lipunan at pag-unlad nito, says Villar. Villar cites as an example the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry that should be adequately supported by the government because it generates tens of thousands of jobs for Filipinos, especially the call centers. Villar further cites, Mas maganda na nagtatrabaho sa mga call centers ang mga kabataan asi mahirap di naman yung wala kang trabaho. Siyempre mas gusto natin after a while ay tumaas ang kalidad nung kanilang ginagagawa pero maaari namang transition lang iyan. Hinahangaan din natin sila na maski na gabi nagtatrabago ang karamihan, Masisipag at matitiyaga. Kaya hindi ko nakikita na masama iyan, mabuti nga iyan.
