KIKO VISITS GAWAD KALINGA VILLAGE IN TARLAC;
TOPS NMYL SURVEY

Staunch supporter of breakthrough housing system and Ramon Magsaysay awardee Gawad Kalinga (GK), Senate Majority Leader and independent senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan visited the GK Village in San Juan Urquico, Tarlac over the weekend.

Senator Kiko, who donated over P40 million of PDAF to build communities and reform lives nationwide through Gawad Kalinga, was welcomed by the beneficiaries of the housing project site.

"As former Chair of the Senate Committee on Housing, it has been our advocacy to provide decent housing to the poor. Gawad Kalinga has been a reliable ally over the years in giving our Filipino families the chance to start their lives over," Kiko said.

"Gawad Kalinga goes beyond providing roof over people's heads. It literally changes people's lifestyle. They are also made responsible for the construction of their houses, it teaches them self-reliance and the spirit of volunteerism. We have been pushing for the replication of such values in our communities, and with Gawad Kalinga's inspiring examples, we are positive that we will touch more lives in the coming years," Kiko ended.

KIKO TOPS NMYL SENATORIAL SURVEY

Senate Majority Leader and independent senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan ranked No.1 in the National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL) survey on the 2007 Senatorial Elections.

The NMYL is an organization composed of vice governors, board members, vice mayors, councilors including Liga ng Mga Barangay (Barangay League) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federation presidents nationwide whose age ranges from 35 years and below.

"Having pushed for new politics and the participation of young Filipinos in governance, I am truly heartened by the trust that the members of the National Movement of Young Legislators is giving. This only goes to show that our young public servants all over the country share our belief that it is high time we change the way politics is run in this country. They value independence, track-record and principles," Kiko said.

"I believe that the survey is a welcome indication, not just for my candidacy, but for the future of local governance in the Philippines . Our young local leaders want reform and renewal, and we will not fail them," Kiko ended.
