Kiko on the Legislative Achievements of the Senate

The Senate has once again pushed for effective and relevant laws for the Filipino people. The trust that the Filipino public has placed on your legislators is our guiding light, as we push for the passage of laws that will better the lives of our people.

Since the resumption of session this new year, the Senate was able to pass the Anti-Terror bill on third reading. A passage that faced much contention as we wanted to deliver a just and humane anti-terror measure that will not be prone to abuse. We also passed yesterday, the UP Charter bill, of which yours truly, is the principal sponsor of the measure. This is in line with our advocacy to raise the bar of excellence in our education system, as well as to improve the facilities and standards of our country's premier national university.

We also passed the bill providing for a One-time Tax Amnesty, as well as the PAGCOR Charter. For our judiciary, SBN 2591 was also passed to provide Additional Benefits to Judiciary Members, and we were also able to pass the law to enable the creation of another court in the City of Marikina. Furthermore, the Senate passed the Philippine Dental Act, the Anti-Rabies law, and the Customs Brokers Bill.

We assure our people the delivery of more results when we resume session in June.
