SENATES OKAY OF BILL RAISING
SALARY OF DOMESTIC HELPERS

Minority Leader Aquilino Nene Q. Pimentel, Jr. (PDP-Laban) today hailed the Senates approval of the bill raising the minimum monthly salary of domestic helpers in the country.

The Kasambahay bill, of which Pimentel is one of the principal authors, prescribes a minimum monthly pay of P3,000 for domestic helpers in Metro Manila, P2,000 for those in the provinces.

The pay hike bill will improve the lives of the people in lower sectors of society, Pimentel said.

The senator commended Senate President Manuel Villar and Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, chairman of the committee on labor, for steering the deliberations and approval of this important social legislation.
