CAYETANO PAYS TRIBUTE TO MAX SOLIVEN

Senator Pia S. Cayetano today paid tribute to Philippine Star publisher, chairman of the board and columnist Maximo V. Soliven, who passed away at the age of 77 this morning in Tokyo, Japan.

She said Filipinos have lost a national treasure with the passing of Soliven, whom she described as "Philippine Journalism's leading postwar icon."

Soliven was a close friend of Sen. Pia's father, the late Senator 'Compañero' Rene Cayetano.

The lady senator is set to file a resolution expressing the Senate's deep sympathies and condolences for the death of perhaps the country's most decorated journalist of all time.
