VILLAR COMMENDS FIVE-YEAR-OLD SWIMMER FOR HIS FEAT
IN CROSSING THE MACTAN CHANNEL IN CEBU

Senate President Manny Villar today filed Senate Resolution 576 commending five-year-old Justin Daniel Junio for setting a record as the youngest person to ever cross the Mactan Channel in Cebu.

"At such a young age, Justin showed such promise as a swimmer that even adult swimmers will perhaps have a hard time replicating. What he did is truly a remarkable achievement and should be given the attention it deserves," says Villar, President of the Nacionalista Party.

Justin's achievement, which spectators say have a chance to make it to the Guinness Book of World Records, took place last Sunday when he swam six kilometers of the Mactan Channel in record two hours.

Villar cites on his resolution, "Justin is the youngest person to ever cross the Mactan Channel despite the strong currents he over overcame as he swam through. The country would hopefully land in the Guinness Book of Records with Justin's achievement as the youngest person to cross a water channel."

According to Villar, "Young Justin's record feat is another testimony of the Filipino's athletic prowess. For sure, he would bring more honor and medals for the country as he grows up and become an even more competent swimmer. Credit goes to her parents and coaches as well for honing his talent well."
