PEOPLE URGED TO ISOLATE, VOTE AGAINST
CONGRESSMEN WHO JUNKED IMPEACHMENT CASE

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Nene Q. Pimentel, Jr. (PDP-Laban) today urged the people to get back at the congressmen who voted for the summary dismissal of the impeachment complaint against President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in defiance of the prevailing public sentiment for her to answer the charges that she has abused her powers, committed graft and betrayed public trust.

Pimentel said these congressmen deserve the reprisal for forsaking their basic duty to search for the truth and uphold justice by dismissing the impeachment case without allowing the presentation of evidence by its proponents.

He backed the call of some Catholic bishops for the people not to vote against the reelection of the congressmen who trashed the impeachment case in the 2007 polls.

Watching the murder of the impeachment complaint was wasting time. The people should just remember the killers and punish them now by isolating them from good company and later by voting against them in next years elections, Pimentel said.
