KIKO OUTLINES SENATE LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

Senate Majority Leader today expressed that the Senate would hit the ground running and expedite pending measures when session resumes Monday, July 24, 2006.

The Chairman of the Committee on Rules said that among priority measures up for interpellation are Anti-terrorism bill, proposed by Senator Juan Ponce-Enrile and the Biofuels Bill introduced by Senator Miriam Santiago. The act ordaining the electric power industry or the EPIRA bill will also be tackled, as well as the Automation bill of Senator Richard Gordon, which is under individual amendments.

The Senate will also continue to pursue other areas that require our attention such as local bills and committee hearings in aid of legislation. After the session break, the Senate has to shift to high gear to address the nations pressing issues. We must show the rest of the nation that notwithstanding the political tensions, we will be able to deliver in the area of legislation and the enactment of priority measures that would impact positively on the economic wellbeing of our citizens," Kiko reiterated.
