CAYETANOS ELECTION AS VICE PRESIDENT OF IPU WOMENS PARLIAMENTARIANS HAILED

Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Nene Q. Pimentel, Jr. (PDP-Laban) today congratulated Senator Pia Cayetano on her election as 1st Vice President of the Womens Parliamentarians of the International Parliamentary Union (IPU) during its ongoing conference in Nairobi, Kenya.

Pimentel said Cayetanos election was made possible by the support of parliamentarians from the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian) and African blocs. She beat the contenders from Australia and other countries.

He said Cayetanos election to the prestigious IPU post brings honor to the country.
